Sudaba Was in a Spiritual Battle

Sudaba was desperate and inconsolable when she left her abusive husband. She needed childcare for her four-year-old daughter so she could work outside the home. One of GHM’s Social Media Evangelists put Sudaba in touch with Milana, the Pastor’s wife, from an Underground Church in one of our target nations. Milana invited Sudaba to church.

One day Sudaba’s husband, Joseph, unexpectedly attended church with his estranged wife. During the service, Joseph twitched and behaved very strangely from nerves. He was not receptive to the message of Jesus and couldn’t wait to leave. After church, the Pastor and Milana approached Joseph and offered to pray for him, but he refused their prayers. Milana continued to faithfully build trust with the couple.

Will you give today and ensure that people like Sudaba are connected to believers in the Underground Church in their hometown?

After being moved by Milana’s persistence, Joseph and Sudaba attended another underground service. Joseph twitched and hissed once again during the message. Sudaba begged Milana to pray for her husband after the service.

Immediately, Joseph scowled at the offer of prayer and put on his sunglasses. He said, “Don’t look me in the eye. I don’t want you to pray over me. People say you are bad and want to harm me. You are dangerous.”

The Power of Prayer

However, Milana was overcome with incredible courage to pray despite his objections. She, her husband and another Pastor laid hands on Joseph and called out to the Lord on his behalf. They prayed for several minutes in the name of Jesus. They forbid unclean spirits to speak and prayed any evil spirits to be cast out of Joseph’s body.

After that, Joseph fell to the ground and looked like “a pierced ball, as if emptied of something, something very tangible.”  Joseph began to move and seemed transformed in the way he looked and behaved. He seemed…free. Sudaba and Joseph renounced all evil and unclean spirits. They repented of their sins and proclaimed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior that day!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Many women like Sudaba suffer abuse in the Middle East and Central Asia. By giving access to the message of Jesus and connecting them to the Underground Church, you are empowering women to find hope, value and courage to persevere.

With a gift today, you can give hope to women like Sudaba.
